Equine Assisted Parenting Time (E-APT) promotes bonding, self-awareness, parenting skills, and emotional regulation by fostering learning and communication.
Whether you are seeking to rebuild the parent/child relationship after a life transition such as divorce or whether you have been court ordered to participate in supervised parenting time, our programs provide a fun, safe, environment.
E-APT removes logistical obstacles from reunification efforts (cost, location, visit times, availability of peak non-work hours, stigma, sterile or awkward environments, etc.) while offering affordable therapeutic skill building to foster the parent/child relationship. A novel approach overcomes common pitfalls of supervised parenting time and reunifcation efforts.
There are a host of challenges when it comes to supervised parenting time.
First, the actual time can be compromised, mainly due to a shortage of supervisors. Second, when supervisors are present, the visits can feel unnatural to both the parent and the child, stifling more relaxed engagement. Lastly, parents may face significant financial and logistical issues related to ongoing supervised parenting time.
Many reunification cases can drag on due to long stretches between visits. The most common reason for this is parties not agreeing on supervisors and dates, cost, and lack of availability of providers on evenings and weekends. Having a consistent, structured program results in a more cost-effective and practical approach to reunification.
Court-ordered visitation can be emotionally and financially daunting. Our program allows parents to engage meaningfully in a positive experience that builds life skills such as emotional regulation and boundaries.

You will be greeted by your friendly equine coach who will invite you to meet your horse.
Learn basics of grooming and horse care while observing horse behaviors. Your coach will help you understand what the horse is communicating and how it's behaviors help keep it safe.
At this station, you and your child will learn how to set boundaries with the horse, how to raise and lower your energy to communicate with the horse, and to apply and release an appropriate amount of pressure for the activity. The team will help you and your child process how these same approaches affect your relationship, so you can find common ground to communicate on.
Families can translate their learning into a fun activity of working together to help the horse achieve a new challenge or goal such as completing an obstacle course.
Have a picnic and play a board game. Enjoy some well earned down time with your child.
No awkward exchanges or transitions. Kiddos hop into the pick up drive lane like they often do at school and the receiving parent can pick up the child without any parent to parent contact.
