Horses are mainstream facilitators in leadership development programs, team-building exercises, therapeutic interventions, as well as trauma treatments. Horses have earned their place across nearly every discipline due to their unique ability to connect with human beings. Family law is the one area that has not adopted horses as an intervention.

As a family law attorney, I spend my days taking families apart in the kindest and most effective way I can within a system that creates unpredictable outcomes. The vision of My Legal Horse is to provide support services and resources to families in transition.

Having been through the system with special needs children, I know first hand the emotional and financial costs as well as the absence of resources. I start almost every family law consult acknowledging the anxiety and helplessness that can come when the things most intimate to you-- spouse, children, livelihood-- are in the hands of strangers who seem to speak a different language and can offer no guarentees.

Even the most straightforward divorces and custody issues leave scars on families from spouses and children to extended family and friends. More complicated cases involving mental health, addiction, domestic violence, special needs children, Department of Child Services involvement, and other challenges can often leave families unable to move forward.
